Aliron's interest and concern about efficient management of waste products goes beyond the medical arena. It extends to environmental issues, which is why a few years ago the company added toxic-waste and solid-waste management s to its list of core competencies in its portfolio.
    In 2003, Aliron registered with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) through its subsidiary, Aliron Philippines, Inc., to build and operate the first and only state-of-the-art industrial and hazardous waste-treatment facility in that island nation. In doing so, the company provided services to the multi-national manufacturers in the zone. Located in Carmelray Industrial Park II in Calamba, Laguna, the Aliron facility uses thermal oxidation technology to process the hazardous wastes. To prevent polluting the air, the plant utilizes a wet scrubber system that is in compliance with the Philippine and U.S. Clean Air Acts.
