Aliron's interest
in efficient management of waste products goes beyond the medical
arena. To help address these concerns Aliron International, Inc.
decided to add waste management as one of its core competencies
in its portfolio.
In Guam, Aliron
set up a Thermal Desorption Plant for remediation of contaminated
soils and with Aliron's line up of environmentally friendly products
and its proven operation and management skill in the area of bioremediation
and restoration, the company brings not only environmentally friendly
solutions to Guam, but economic and cost effective solutions as
well.
The company
registered with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) through
its subsidiary, Aliron Philippines, Inc., to build and operate the
first and only state-of-the-art Industrial & Hazardous Waste Facility
in that island nation to provide services to the multi-national
manufacturers in the zone. Located in Carmelray Industrial Park
II in Calamba, Laguna, the technology uses thermal oxidation to
process the wastes and to prevent polluting the air a wet scrubber
is utilized in compliance with the Philippine and US Clean Air Acts.
The company
is also pursuing opportunities to use new technology for solid municipal
waste management in collaboration with environmental companies in
the southeastern United States and the Metro Manila Development
Authority (MMDA). The plan is to create an industry from solid municipal
waste by creating a Waste Technology Park that incorporates composting,
sorting, recycling, re-manufacturing and sale of materials of value
from wastes while providing jobs and housing for the local population.
Just like an economic zone foreign and local investors (re-manufacturers)
are invited to locate in the zone.
Medical waste
is generally defined as any solid waste that is generated in the
diagnosis, treatment or immunization of human beings or animals,
in research or in the production or testing of biologicals, including
soiled or blood-soaked bandages, discarded surgical gloves, needles,
specimens for culture and more. Such wastes clearly represent a
significant health threat to the entire world. To help address these
concerns, ALIRON has chosen a state-of-the-art medical waste disposal
system. The system uses a revolutionary approach 'fast destruction'
combustion approach that only is efficient, but also virtually eliminates
pollutants before they are released into the environment. "It
reduces such wastes by 99 percent. I'm convinced it is a better
technology than the microwave or autoclaving systems widely used
today", says Aliron Executive Vice President Ron Grow.
